Job Purpose
Assisting the Regional Financial controller (RFC) in overseeing the school network’s financial and accounting activities, analyzing operating data, ensuring internal controls and accounting procedures are followed, reporting on performance versus budgets, preparing financial statements, making sure schools are abiding by regulatory requirements and accounting principles, as well as applying and demonstrating strong governance in schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in designing, building, maintaining, and optimizing the management information system (MIS) for the schools. Moreover, ensuring that every school’s Accounts issue monthly management accounts and regular operating reports on the activity of the school based on the requirements of the RFC.
- Training the respective school Chief Accountants to implement the SABIS® system of accounting and reporting.
- Monitoring and examining the integrity, accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of the financial statements of schools and of any formal reporting relating to the schools’ financial performance, in addition to reviewing significant financial reporting judgments contained in them. Moreover, ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Assisting in promoting good governance to avoid legal complications and to maintain legal and ethical standing in the eyes of shareholders. Moreover, assisting in managing and promoting excellent investor relationship with school owners.
- Overseeing the physical count of school inventories (books, uniforms, stationery, etc.) and applying a discipline for regular stock counts with proper reporting on discrepancies against GL, as well as reviewing the means of safeguarding school assets.
- Reviewing and reporting on the monthly payroll data accuracy including payroll administrative duties and approvals for all changes in payroll and maintaining a control schedule for every school as per the RFC guidelines.
- Conducting school quarterly financial control reviews based on the Mandatory Controls checklists and reporting on findings to the RFC.
Ideal Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, or equivalent
- CPA or CPA finalist, or CMA
- English and Arabic are a must. Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
