Job Purpose
The Legal Counsel is responsible for handling legal matters within the company’s Legal Department and effectively communicating them to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing legal support across various domains, including Intellectual Property (IP) and Data Privacy
- Drafting and reviewing IP-related documents, such as agreements, licenses, consents, and releases, and assisting with trademark portfolio tasks, including filings, renewals, office actions, oppositions, and related administrative work
- Understanding legal and compliance requirements arising from GDPR and local laws concerning data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity
- Assisting with the company's data privacy compliance program, ensuring adherence to privacy and data security laws, privacy policies and notices, and addressing online privacy issues
- Researching and evaluating different legal risk factors, preparing legal risk assessment reports, and ensuring effective legal and compliance risk management through GDPR compliance and IP portfolio management
- Advising on legal matters related to labor law, corporate and commercial laws, and international ventures and partnerships
- Identifying and implementing approved contracts, policies, and processes
- Drafting and reviewing all types of commercial contacts and notices to meet business and legal requirements and achieve acceptable risk levels in accordance with internal approval processes
- Liaising with external parties, such as regulators, external counsel, and public authorities
- Performing other related tasks as they arise and as delegated by the Management
Ideal Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Laws (LL.B.)
- A Masters’ degree is a plus
- English and Arabic proficient. French is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in a relevant field
