Job Purpose
To ensure the proper, efficient, and successful operation of the Academic Quality Controllers (AQCs) at each school which he/she oversees. The RAQC gives guidance and support to AQCs while ensuring that they are performing adequately. The RAQC is also closely involved with training and development of teaching staff, monitoring student progress and examining students' results on a weekly basis. Additionally, the RAQC work closely with the Regional Subject Coordinators in their roles to ensure proper implementation of the SABIS® academic program, efficiency in analysis of academic results and in providing content and academic support.
Key Responsibilities:
AQC Support and Guidance; School Visits:
- Provide support to the AQCs on the daily and weekly academic challenges.
- Ensure AQCs follow the SABIS® approved subject distributions.
- Ensure AQCs implement the SABIS® Systems model (Philosophy, Exams, Pacing, etc.).
- Ensure that each school has implemented procedures to establish a disciplined environment in which students can learn.
- Conduct meetings with the AQCs through calls, video conference, school visits etc. to monitor and plan that the schools’ objectives are aligned as per plan and take corrective actions accordingly.
Admission and Book Ordering:
- Spot check that the analysis of placement exams and placement of new students are done effectively at each school.
- Approve and ensure that all book orders (SABIS® and non-SABIS®) have been placed.
- Ensure that books arrive on time before the start date of each school. Plan problem solving if issues exist.
Training and Development:
- Train AQCs to perform their assigned tasks successfully and efficiently.
- Customize a summer training plan for all new and returning staff.
- Verify implementation of summer training plan with the ERD, DRs and AQCs.
- Customize and conduct training modules for talent development of school staff members for succession planning in different fields within the SABIS® School Network.
- Work with DRs and AQCs and ERD to assign mentors for new teachers and follow-up on the set training plan.
- Ensure development and implementation of performance improvement plans for teachers and AQCs as needed.
- Ensure all new teachers joining during the academic year are trained fully.
- Student Life Department and training of prefects.
Monitoring Students’ Progress:
- Ensure development and implementation of educational plans for all struggling students to address their gaps.
- Ensure the academic results of all students are being monitored closely.
- Ensure intervention and remedial plans are in place.
- Ensure that multi-Tiered system of support (MTSS) is fully implemented.
- Work with the AQCs to ensure mentors for new students are assigned when school starts, in coordination with the SLC/SLO®.
End of Year results and summer planning:
- During Term 2 work with AQC to estimate students who will be promoted, retained or required to attend summer school.
- Discuss end of year results with the school AQCs and the appropriate academic teams.
- Approve or amend the discussed recommendations concerning students’ promotions, failures, make-up exams, and summer school.
- Approve the summer school plans including the distribution of subjects, teachers.
- Planning for new sections distributions & recruitment
- Review drafts of the timetable for the following year and obtains approval from the ERD for the final version of the timetable
Ideal Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- High degree of proficiency with MS Office productions including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to interpret data, charts (including data from state DOEs)
- Master’s Degree a plus
- Good command of the English language, oral and written; Spanish a plus
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field
