Job Purpose
The Academic Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring the effective and consistent implementation of the SABIS® Educational System, including its teaching methodology, assessment practices, and overall academic standards. The role involves training, coaching, and observing teachers to maintain high instructional quality, as well as continuously communicating with parents to keep them informed of their children’s academic progress. The Academic Quality Controller also serves as a guardian of the SABIS® curriculum, ensuring its integrity and proper delivery across all classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the SABIS® point system as well as the SABIS® teaching methodology and classroom management techniques are being applied and implemented across the entire school.
- Analyzing and following up on all students’ academic issues, meeting with Subject Coordinators to review updated results, organizing academic support sessions for struggling students, and ensuring successful completion of the SABIS® Digital Platform quizzes to achieve measurable improvement.
- Maintaining the accuracy of end-of-year transcripts (where applicable) sent to universities and regularly analyzing student performance using academic reports (e.g., SIS Tracker, AMS014, AMS050, etc.) and student history files, while recommending appropriate actions as needed.
- Ensuring students effectively utilize SABIS® products (AI Tools, SDP, SABIS® PAL, e-books, etc.)
- Monitoring student progress continuously, communicating with and meeting parents of academically low performing students, and developing appropriate action plans as needed.
- Preparing and sending letters to parents regarding students’ academic and behavioral performance to ensure clarity and understanding of relevant policies.
- Conducting general meetings with parents about the importance of the external exams (where applicable).
- Reviewing and approving student placement tests in coordination with the School Director and/or Regional Academic Quality Controller (RAQC).
- Overseeing teachers’ effective implementation of SABIS® products, including but not limited to SDP, ILS, and Grids.
- Planning and coordinating academic requirements for summer school programs.
- Attending and monitoring teacher orientation programs, supporting newly hired teachers, setting clear expectations for the upcoming academic year, and ensuring completion of all required courses on the SABIS® Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
- Monitoring teacher performance through appraisals in coordination with Heads of Departments (HODs), Subject Coordinators, and Human Resources, and recommending training and development needs when and as required.
- Conducting classroom observations on a daily basis and providing constructive feedback through meetings and written evaluations to support teacher performance.
- Participating in the interviewing process to assess potential candidates referred by Human Resources for relevant positions.
- Coordinating with the Student Life Organization (SLO) to promote academic excellence across the entire school by monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of academic support sessions.
- Meeting with the Student Management Coordinator (SMC) to follow up on action plans addressing student academic and behavioral issues and ensuring effective implementation and successful progress.
- Coordinating with the assigned regional center to ensure subject selections comply with both, government and external exams requirements and university admissions.
- Performing such other related tasks or projects as they arise and as delegated by the SABIS® management.
Ideal Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field; Master’s Degree is a plus
- English Proficient; other languages apply based on country and regulations
- Teaching Certificate is a plus
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; SABIS® Experience is a plus
